  • Hearing aids have been a life-improving experience. Since receiving mine, I am much more relaxed, able to engage in conversation, and don’t find myself asking people to repeat themselves. This is all thanks to the knowledge, professionalism, and courtesy of the Hearing Center of Plainview Hearing staff.

  • Home life with my daughters has become very peaceful since they aren’t complaining about my inability to hear. I’m not asking them to repeat themselves, so they have stopped lecturing me about the importance of hearing. Life at my ELK meetings and Veterans of Foreign Wars has improved since I can now hear at the meetings and social events. I never realized the potential hazard I imposed by not hearing while driving. Now I hear horns, sirens, directional signals — realizing what I missed while driving.

  • I was fitted for two top-of-the-line digital hearing aids today to compensate for my high-frequency loss. It was amazing to wear them today for the first time.

I was sitting in the car waiting, and I was listening to the music on the radio. I could hear almost every word of the song, and I could hear the music more clearly. I usually ask to make the TV louder, to number 7 or 8, but today, we were both able to listen at the same level — 4!

I am hearing sounds in my house that have always been here, but I never heard them: the ticking of the clocks in the dining room and the one on the shelf in the TV room. My wife called me from the front door when I was in my car ready to zip off to Walbaum’s. When I rolled down the window to ask her what she wanted, her response was, “Hey, you heard me!”

At one point today, it brought tears to my eyes to realize what I had been missing. There are other benefits that might not occur to people whose hearing is normal. I think that because I no longer will be frustrated knowing I am not hearing, I will be more accurate in my responses to other’s speech and better company. It had become impossible to hear at large parties like weddings.

This particular aid is designed to amplify the sounds from the person you’re facing and diminish the sounds entering the rear microphones of groups talking behind you. It is also designed to give highest priority to human speech. In the earlier days, sound of all kinds were amplified equally, so the sound of the car engine and the sound of your passenger’s voice were the same volume, and people were always raising or lowering the volume to get right the sound they wanted to focus on. The new generation of hearing aids discriminates in favor of human speech, and it actually reduces the volume of competing noise. We are lucky to be living at such a time, and I am lucky I was able to afford the best product.

  • I really enjoy them. I realize that one must spend money to keep them operating properly, but it’s worth it.

  • My name is Edward Moore. Several years ago, after suffering with hearing loss for way too long, I decided to call Hearing Center of Plainview. I was missing out on too much, constantly asking people to repeat themselves. Watching TV or going to a movie with my wife and friends became less enjoyable. Even dinner conversation was becoming a strain!

I decided I was too young to be missing out on so much! The friendly and knowledgeable staff at Hearing Center of Plainview has always made me feel comfortable. They changed my life for the better.

  • I have been a patient at Hearing Center of Plainview since 2013. During this time, their staff helped me select hearing aids to fit my active lifestyle, responded to my questions with patience and understanding, and addressed any issues I’ve faced with equal amounts of concern and compassion. In particular, I would like to thank Michael Valasky for his ongoing professionalism and dedication to making sure I get the very most out of my hearing aids, and for giving me back a part of my life (the ability to hear well) that I didn’t know I was missing.

  • My name is Neil Simon, not the playwright Neil Simon, just a regular guy who began noticing several years ago that I was having increased difficulty hearing.

I was constantly asking friends and family to repeat themselves. My grandchildren began noticing that I was having trouble understanding them.

That’s when I decided to do something about it and called the professionals at Hearing Center of Plainview. Their staff could not have been any kinder of knowledgeable. They took the time to explain what hearing aid would be the most effective given my lifestyle and helped me make the right choice.

Boy has my life changed for the better! Thank you, Hearing Center of Plainview.
